Basing House needs a new Gardener/Caretaker

Basing House was once the site of one of the largest privately owned Tudor palaces which was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in English Civil War. Now a ruin, Hampshire Cultural Trust manages the grounds, gardens and visitor centre which is open to the public. Functions and events such as weddings are also hosted at Basing House.

The trust is looking to find a Gardener/Caretaker for Basing House who will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and gardens, a key role in making the visitor experience so special.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience, skill and a passion for the following:

  • grounds maintenance operations including mowing, pruning and planting
  • general maintenance and assisting contractors
  • leadership of a team of volunteers
  • horticultural knowledge and presenting public gardens

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, organised and equally able to work on their own or as part of a team ensuring that visitors have a great experience at Basing House
