Upcoming Talks

Our talks this month will take a look at recent significant change on the Great Western main lines and a current steam locomotive restoration project.

On Wednesday 12th June John Scragg will take examine Great Western Transformation 2010 – 2020, the decade when overhead electrification was installed on the main line from London Paddington to Bristol and South Wales, and on the line through Newbury, and the train fleet was extensively renewed.

On Wednesday 26th June we will hear from Ian Crowder, Marketing Director of Toddington Standard Locomotive Ltd, The Story of the Forgotten Standard. BR ‘Standard’ 2-6-0 No.76077, having been rescued from Barry Scrapyard, spent 30 years in hibernation before restoration began.
