Thrive – Using Gardening to Change Lives

Thrive LogoOur speakers this month were Sarah & Kate from Thrive which is a charity that is using gardening to change the lives of people. Their philosophy is to use gardening and horticulture for health and wellbeing. Although this is not a new idea, Thrive promotes this to improve people’s lives who may be suffering from conditions like depression, anxiety, social isolation and disabilities so as to improve both their physical and mental health.
They have three centres around the country in Reading, Battersea in London and Birmingham. They also run training courses from the basic ‘What is Social and Therapeutic Horticulture?’ through to a diploma in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture.
