Basingstoke and District Railway Society – Feb 2022

At the time of writing the Society intends to present its twice-monthly ‘live’ meetings, but with the continuing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, please check our website or call the Secretary to confirm that meetings are to go ahead.

On Wednesday 9 February, Paul Kirkup will present Manchester and Surrounding Towns’ Tramway Systems. Paul previously gave us an excellent on-line presentation on the tramway systems of West Lancashire, packed with detail and splendid historical photographs. He now returns to describe the extensive systems in Manchester and surrounding towns.

On Wednesday 23 February we will go Rail Blue with Revd. Alastair Wood. Again a returning speaker, Alastair will present the varied liveries of diesel and electric traction on Britain’s railways from the blue period of the late 1960s through the more colourful sectorisation era of the 1980s.

Our meetings begin at 7.45pm and are held at The Wote Street Club in New Road in Basingstoke town centre. The Government now requires mask-wearing in social clubs. We welcome new members to the Society and are always pleased to see non-members at our meetings at a cost of just £5. Membership details are on our website at www.bdrs70d.com or call the Secretary on 01256 331002.
