Royal Marines at the Anvil
The afternoon of Sunday 30th of January saw us hosting the The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines for our 13th ‘nearly annual’ concert. It was very good to be able to welcome them after a 2 year break and they were on great form, with an excellent and varied programme that particularly showcased solos by their very talented younger band members as well as an entertaining Elvis medley.
Basingstoke Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums had the exciting opportunity of being invited to watch the rehearsal and show and also to join in a master class of Drum and Bugle lead by the RM Corps of Drums.
Support A Local Charity With Voluntary Help
People ask us ‘What does Rotary do?’. We’re about helping and supporting communities. As Rotarian’s, we do some fantastic work each year, whilst having fun and raising money at events like the concert at The Anvil and The Festival of Transport, that enable us to donate to more than 20 local charities, such as:- Mencap Basingstoke, Young Carers, and the Camrose Centre for homeless people and a few international causes such as Shelterbox, Christmas Shoeboxes and the End Polio campaign.
We also have fun helping charities ‘hands on’ at their own fundraising events. This may involve car parking and marshalling and often other support roles.
SAVE THE DATE!
We will be ‘hands on’ at the following local charity events …
Friday 1st April | Basingstoke Disability Forum Awareness Day, in The Malls. |
Sunday 3rd April | St Michael’s Hospice, Woodland Walk. See their website to register. Dogs on leads welcome |
Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th May | Basingstoke Disability Forum Scarecrow Trail, Chineham and Sherfield Park. An entertaining walk |
Saturday 18th June | Spotlight UK Family Day. Popley Fields |
Get in touch to volunteer with our teams at any of the above events and join in the fun.

It’s a great day out and Rotary look forward to welcoming you on Sunday 8th May 2022 at this FREE family event (Small charge to Park on the Common)
See our website to register your vehicle
Last year we were grateful for the support of some 80 volunteers to make this event a great success. If you fancy being part of our team and joining in the fun contact Paul on the link above
Basingstoke Deane Rotary is a group of 35 men & women from a wide variety of backgrounds. All live locally in the borough but some commute to work outside Basingstoke. Most joined Rotary to help others less fortunate, and they find Basingstoke Deane Rotary adds another extremely enjoyable dimension to their lives.
