B&DBC – Details of forthcoming Civic events

I trust you are keeping well and enjoying some family time or a relaxing break during the summer holidays, whether away or a staycation?

With the relaxation COVID restrictions, I am delighted to now have the opportunity to be out and about meeting the amazing people and organisations in our beautiful borough.  I hope you do not mind be sharing a few highlights with you.

Abbey Court Care Home in Popley organised a Commemorative VE/VJ themed afternoon tea for their residents.  I joined in the sing song with the residents, signing World War II songs, and planted an Olive Tree in the garden.  A wonderful afternoon filled with reminiscence and reflection.  The volunteers and staff were extremely impressive.

It was a great honour and privilege to be invited to start the first Basingstoke parkrun in War Memorial Park since lockdown commenced.  Hugo and I were delighted to meet so many runners, joggers, walkers and volunteers having fun – an amazing community atmosphere was felt all around the park.

It was a real joy to visit an ocean of clam at Mencap Basingstoke Summer Plant Sale at Elizabeth Road Allotments.  They sell delicious looking vegetables and beautiful plants once a month – well worth visiting and supporting them.

Friendships on World Friendship Day were celebrated with stunning music, devotions and dancing during South Asian Heritage Month at Carnival Hall.  An extremely magical, vibrant and happy afternoon.  Hugo and I were extremely proud to have received friendship bracelets.

I look forward to welcoming you at the forthcoming Civic Events.

Kind regards
