Mayor set to celebrate our community at Civic Sunday service
Community spirit and joy will be celebrated at the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane’s Civic Sunday service which this year will be held at a new earlier time to encourage more people to attend.
The service will take place on Sunday 26 September at 3pm at St Michael’s Church in Church Square, Basingstoke.
Cllr Onnalee Cubitt will be joined by The Right Reverend David Williams, Bishop of Basingstoke, The Reverend Canon Jo Stoker of St Michael’s Church, Mark Bedford and the Praise Embassy Choir at the annual service led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, the Reverend Canon Linda Scard. The organist will be Paul Wright.
This community event is free for people of all ages to attend.
Proceeds from the collection will go to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2021/22 which supports two local good causes – The Community Furniture Project and The Friends of St. Michael’s Hospice.
Cllr Cubitt said: “I am looking forward to welcoming as many local people as possible to my Civic Sunday service – come along and help fill St Michael’s Church in celebration of the borough’s wonderful community spirit.
“I hope that this year, the earlier start time of 3pm will encourage more residents to take part.”
Everyone is welcome to join the Mayor for refreshments following the service.
