Last season recap

Last season saw the Hook & Odiham rugby Club go from strength to strength. For the final league game of the season the Hook & Odiham 1st xv team took on Chineham 1st XV. With the Stags carrying multiple injuries the team gave it everything they had! Admirably, the Club finished fourth overall following the defeat to Chineham RFC.

The Club is preparing for the 2023-2024 season on multiple fronts

Hook and Odiham Rugby Club Home FizturesThe Club is looking forward to an exciting start to the 2023 – 2024 season with the players kicking off preseason training on the 18th of July. The Stags are running two training sessions weekly. Tuesday’s sessions are gym focused and are from 6pm-7pm at ArenaFit, Saturday’s sessions are rugby specific and run from 11am-12:30pm at Titchener Park. Rob Cruikshanks, who has been leading preseason training as Head Coach, is pleased with the teams’ efforts so far. “Yet again ArenaFit has been fantastic in allowing us to use their equipment and area to work on conditional fitness. Further to this we have been training at our new pitch which we have used to emphasise skills, game plan and of course more fitness! We have seen some new faces come through and it is so pleasing to see that they’ve fit straight in. The future looks bright for the club, a new location, new players, a new season and the same commitment and dedication that has projected this club to where it is today. 2023/2024 season here we come!”

Community Engagement

Community engagement is a main focus for the Club, these strong links will enable the Stags to continue to expand and give back to the East Hook Community project.

From the 22nd of July the Stags organised some Family Fun rugby for the community on their new home ground at Titchener’s Park in Hook. These sessions were popular, with a fantastic turnout & great enthusiasm on the pitch! The Club looks forward to hosting more community events in the coming months.

The Stags have also continued to support the community through helping at multiple events, the team has showed their support at the Hook Fun Run for the last two years, providing water and much needed motivation to the athletes. This July, the Stags also ran a stall at the Hook Village Show where they helped set up the event, run a (very successful!) bar and put together some superb rugby challenges!

Do you want to get involved?

The Club is always looking to develop and welcome new players, and as they move into their new facilities at Titchener’s Park, they will be putting on Minis Ruby for under 7’s & 8’s age group. If you would like to support the Club and community through running some coaching sessions for Minis Rugby please do get in touch.

The Club will also need volunteers to engage further with the local community, to spread awareness and help develop the multi-sport community social facility which is being driven by the Northeast Hook Community project.

The Hook & Odiham rugby Club are welcoming new players and right now there is no better time to get involved than the very start of the season!

Please get in touch with the Club if you would like to volunteer, play or support!  email: enquiries@hookandodihamrfc.co.uk
