We currently have a Governor vacancy at our school and we are looking for a committed person to join the Team.

We welcome applications from our parents and members of the community who may have experience in one of the following:

• Finance
• Human Resources
• Health & Safety
• The Legal profession
• An Educational setting

The Governing Board of our school is made up of parents, staff and co-opted governors.

Governors do not need to be experts in the field of education. What they do need is an interest in the school and the welfare of our pupils, together with the time and willingness to get involved. We will provide on-going training to ensure that you are kept up-to-date with current policies and procedures.

The Governing Body operates at a strategic level and is not involved in the day-to-day running of the school. The Governors are responsible for both the conduct of the school and for the promotion of high standards. They carry out their role by setting the vision for our school, ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards empowering each child to achieve their full potential. This is done by building a thorough knowledge of the school and its community, by both supporting and constructively challenging the school, and by ensuring accountability and compliance.

As a member of the Governing body you will be required to attend and contribute to half termly meetings, and you will sometimes be required to visit school for monitoring purposes. You may also be invited informally to attend events such as Christmas dinner, coffee mornings or even award assemblies/ceremonies. This will give you an opportunity to meet the children but also to get involved with the whole school community.

The recruitment process requires you to complete an application form followed by an interview with the Chair of Governors.
