Village Cafe – March 2024

Spring is definitely on the way, I love to see the first blooms and leaves appearing after the dull, dark days of winter.

With spring, comes a change to café opening hours, we are back to opening weekly, Friday afternoons at the Parish room, 2-4pm.  Dates for your diary to come along and see us are :-

      • 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd March.

We will then have a two week break for Easter, re-opening on 12th April.  Opening dates for April and May

      • 12th, 19th and 26th April.
      • 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th May.

As you know, we like to use our profits to support local projects in our community and we are currently fund raising for Old Basing Infant school, to provide an outdoor Communication Board for the playground. For various different reasons, some children do not always have the words to communicate their likes, dislikes, thoughts, feelings and needs when they are outside on the playground.  A Communication Board will help all children to have an alternative way to communicate with each other and the adults who are there to support them.

For future fund raising, we recently asked our customers for ideas of local groups we can help and the Ivy Club and Big Turkey lunch were both proposed. We have provided afternoon tea for the Ivy Club in the past and feel this is something we would like to do again, arrangements are currently being made.

The Big Turkey lunch is incredibly popular within our community and I am in contact with the organisers to see how the café may help with this year's event.

Thank you to all of customers for the ideas, we will keep you updated.

As always, if anyone would like to join our fabulous team of bakers or baristas, do get in touch. We are always grateful to anyone who can spare some time and as we operate on a rota basis, volunteers are able to pick dates to bake or help that suits them.

All of our team are amazing and love to meet regular and new customers. As our customers, it is always a pleasure to see you on a Friday afternoon and it is through your continued support that we are able to help with local projects and we cannot thank you enough.
