NWR (National Women’s Register) is a relatively unknown social group for women. It was founded in 1960 to connect women through discussions, presentations and activities. Members enjoy conversation, friendship and fun through participating in local, regional and national events, ranging from local group meetings to online book groups, Zoom talks and a national conference. There are about 5000 members in 343 groups.

Each local group is unique and individual, arranging activities and meetings to suit their members. The Chineham and Old Basing group particularly enjoys chatting and eating so we include these activities at every opportunity. Wine tasting is an especially popular meeting (see photograph).

NWR - Wine tasting eventWe get together in the afternoon of the 1st Monday of the month for lively discussions on a range of topics in each other’s homes. We also meet for lunch once a month, and our reading group meet in the evening every 4th Thursday. Social outings to the cinema, theatre, etc are organised on an ad hoc basis. We welcome new members so please look at the NWR website NWR.org.uk or contact our local organiser for more information.
