Uncommon Christmas Visitor

From Phil Males:

Over the last week to ten days a grey heron has been visiting my back garden and pond here in Lychpit. Quite a feat seeing my garden is quite small at 45 feet square and packed full of shrubs and plants. It just demonstrates how good the short take-off and landing (STOL) skills these birds possess. The heron always uses a steep approach from the roof of my house.

As there are no fish in the pond, I can only assume the heron has spotted hibernating male frogs and fancies a tasty winter meal.
