At the monthly meeting held on 1st<\/sup> November the Chairman, David Cowling, welcomed the 44 <\/span>members present and gave apologies for those unable to attend. David also wished \u2018Happy <\/span>Birthday\u2019 to those with birthdays in November especially Les who was 90 this week. The <\/span>Secretary, Tony Brazier, then reminded members to complete and return their menu form for the <\/span>BCoT Christmas lunch on 14th<\/sup> December for which there were still a couple of places available.<\/span>
\nHe also reminded members that the programme for 2024 was now ready and to please note that <\/span>there will be no meeting in January. Welfare Officer, Christine Broadbent, thanked members who <\/span>had responded to her email regarding emergency contact details.<\/span><\/p>\n

Citizens Advice – Tadley & District<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"CAB<\/a>Our speaker this month was Di Lewis from Citizens Advice, Tadley and <\/span>District. She explained that she has been working for CA for the last 22 years <\/span>having started as a volunteer. There is an office in Basingstoke and Tadley <\/span>with both offices working closely together. They are partly funded by <\/span>Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council who appreciate the valuable work, t<\/span>hat they do and are the Mayor\u2019s Charity for 2023\/2024. The clients they see <\/span>have varied problems and they aim to give advice to the person and present <\/span>options so that they can move their problem forward. They also aim to improve policies that affect <\/span>the general public’s lives by lobbying Parliament to improve or amend legislation. Both offices <\/span>have a range of specialist advisors and more details can be obtained at:- <\/span>Basingstokeandtadleycab.org.uk<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Next Meeting<\/span><\/h3>\n

The next meeting is on Wednesday 6th<\/sup> December and there will be no speaker as this is the Christmas party at which we will have the usual buffet and the mega raffle will take place.<\/span><\/p>\n
