A Celebration of Parish Life
St Mary’s Church are very excited to announce our 2025 summer festival. We will be bringing this forward a little this year to Friday 16th May – Sunday 18th May.
The fun begins on the evening of Friday 16th May with a ‘Hymns & Pimms’ evening. All are welcome to join us for an evening of singing favourite hymns old and new. We will be serving Pimms or fruit cups on arrival, and there will be a licensed bar serving a variety of soft and alcoholic beverages during the interval. Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, or £12.50 for a family with up to 3 children. They will be available on the door but can be purchased in advance if you wish by contacting our administrator Debbie at admin@stmarysoldbasing.org.uk
On Saturday 17th May we will have a celebration of parish life when our church and grounds will be filled with displays showcasing our local businesses and organisations and the contributions they make to our wonderful community. There will also be performances from our school choirs, a range of stalls to browse and lots of exciting activities for adults and children alike. There will be a delicious barbecue lunch available, and a selection of cakes and other refreshments available throughout the day.
If you are a local business owner or community group organiser why not create a display for our festival. This costs just £10 and is a great way to support your local church and promote your business or group. Please contact Debbie at admin@stmarysoldbasing.org.uk for more details and to book your place.
On Sunday 18th May we will be celebrating St Marys and the role it plays in our lives. Church and tower tours will be available throughout the day to allow you to learn more about the history and beauty of our Grade 1 listed building. If you are brave enough to climb to the top of the tower and out onto the roof you will be rewarded with stunning views across the Parish and beyond, and you will also have the opportunity to see the workings of our clock which dates back to the 1830’s. Tours are priced at £5 for 1 tour (church or tower) and £7.50 for both tours. Tickets will be available on the day but numbers on our tower tours are strictly limited for safety reasons so you might want to book in advance by contacting Debbie at admin@stmarysoldbasing.org.uk There will also be another chance to browse the displays and stalls, and of course to enjoy some delicious refreshments.
