Tidying the Children’s Cemetery

Sadly, over many years, the children’s cemetery at Rooksdown had become neglected and overgrown. The call came and we were glad to be able to join a group of volunteers, many of whom were connected to children who had been laid to rest there, to cut back some of the overgrowth and restore some order to this peaceful space. The brush that was cut back was stacked in a corner to provide areas to encourage wildlife. We left it a work in progress with restoration events planned in the future and also to plant more bulbs especially in the snowdrop garden. It is a quiet reflective space, close to nature and full of birdsong, it‘s good to see it looking more cared for

Look out for further events and come and join the work party, you’ll be made very welcome
