Ivy Club

Coach Outing

The Ivy Club have organised a coach to go to Longacre Nursery, Bagshot on Monday 30th November 2026 leaving Belle Vue Play Area at 10.30 am and picking up at the Royal British Legion and Lychpit (Oakfields), returning at 4.00pm. Tickets cost £12.00 and are payable in advance. If you would like to join us to see the spectacular Christmas displays and lots of lovely goodies to buy as presents, as well as enjoying a scumptious meal in their restaurant, then please contact me on 01256 328196. We were unable to put on a usual summer outing to the seaside sadly due to the cost of fuel making coach hire very expensive.

It’s Been a Busy Time

The Ivy Club has had a very busy few months and our programme is set until the end of the year when we celebrate with our Christmas Party. On our non Bingo weeks we have now introduced a sales table where our members can donate for sale any items they no longer have a use for, and our book and jigsaw exchange programme continues to be a great success. We also participated in St. Mary’s flower festival with one of our members producing a magnificent display in the church, as well as other members providing “jars of joy”. We have been entertained by a group of ladies and gentleman who are aptly named “Singing for fun” who will be returning in November to our delight, We were again able to support the Old Basing Carnival by selling raffle tickets and we were lucky enough to win a couple of prizes. We have a very enthusiastic team who now put on regular competitions for us to partake in, always with a prize at the end, but that comes at a price of using our brains! as we have to do with our quiz sheets.

Gymnastic Training Camp

You will of course no doubt have seen the article concerning a very enterprising young gentleman who was hoping to go to Portugal for a gymnastic training camp and due to the generosity of our members we were able to donate funds to help with this project as well as having many customers from the club using his car washing skills (and thanks to Dad). Through hard work he achieved his goal and has been back to The Ivy Club to tell us all about his experience as well as showing us a video of his skills, Well Done.

Ascot Ladies Day

We celebrated Ascot Ladies Day, but ours took place in the Royal British Legion where our members dressed up and our ladies showed off some magnificent hats, we held lots of competitions and enjoyed our own races. Each member was offered Bucks Fizz on arrival courtesy of Tesco Supermarket.
Going forward in September we will be celebrating around the world in 80 minutes with cheese tasting (thank you Tesco for supporting us). October sees us celebrate Halloween with a fish and chip luncheon and in November the Tadley Ukulele Band are returning to entertain. us.
December is party time, after which we will close until the new year.

The Ivy Club has a lot to offer the more senior members of our community as well as companionship and the chance to have a good natter over a nice cup of tea and cake on a weekly basis for as little as £2.00 per week which includes a raffle. Bargain. New members always welcome and if you would like to know more then please call on 01256 328196.
