With both floors of the house still open daily from 11am to 3pm (subject to volunteer availability), you can savour the sight of fascinating treasures before the annual autumn deep clean begins and the festive decorations go up.

Regency Revisited & Jane Austen House Tours

Discover Jane Austen’s links to The Vyne, her views on the Chute family and what Regency life, and love, was like for those living here at the time. During your visit you can get up close to first editions of Austen’s books, feast your eyes on beautiful Regency costume worn by members of the family, and learn more about Austen, her family connections to The Vyne, and what Regency life and love was like for those living here. Jane Austen House Tours run Wednesdays and Saturdays until 2 November, 2.30-3.30pm and cost an additional £5 per person.

25 Sep | Layers of Jane

From petticoats to pantaloons, chemise to shifts, following an indulgent cream tea in the Brewhouse tea-room, enjoy an interactive and irreverent presentation regarding Regency ‘underpinnings’ in the house.

Autumn in the house at The Vyne

In autumn, parts of the house will be gently tucked under white sheets and the first floor will close for its annual deep clean. Then, as Christmas approaches, the ground floor will be transformed into a magical fairytale setting—so there’s always something new to enjoy at The Vyne.
