Sandham Memorial Chapel – Stanley Spencer Walk

Join us at Sandham Memorial chapel on this free guided circular walk through the village of Burghclere —a place that deeply shaped the life and work of Stanley Spencer.

Follow in Spencer’s footsteps as we explore the landscapes, paths, and quiet corners that inspired his work. Along the way, your guide will bring his story vividly to life—sharing the moments, memories, and local scenes that found their way into his paintings.

This relaxed, 90 minute walk is more than just a walk, it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, improve your mental health and uncover hidden stories, into Spencer’s creative vision. Gain fresh insights, and see Burghclere through the eyes of the artist himself. There’s plenty of opportunity to ask questions, making it an engaging and interactive experience for all.

After the walk, you’ll have the option to visit Sandham Memorial Chapel, where Spencer’s remarkable paintings can be seen in their full glory (standard admission applies).
