Street Party 2016

Sunday 12th July 2016

The weather looked gloomy for the Street Party and all the lovely people who turned up at 9.30 to help set up were drenched by the end. However the prayers said at the 10am church service were answered and the weather cleared for our start at 12. The Basing Singers raised our spirits (and the roof) to get us started and then everyone threw themselves into having a good time. It was lovely to see everyone mixing and having a good time with their fellow villagers and the children took full advantage of the closed road to run around – especially during the one short, sharp shower at 4. Thank you to the Crown pub for their fabulous BBQ and Pimms tent and to the PTA of the schools for entertaining the children. But special thanks must be given to all the people you helped to set up, lent their gazebos and stayed to clear away at the end. Many hands make light work and I couldn’t have done it without you.
