“Entente Cordiale” or “Rhubarb Cordial Maison”?
In fact, both of these were features of the recent Old Basing – Alençon annual exchange visit which was once again enjoyed by all. With a shared interest in all things horticultural the party of almost 60 people visited Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire with its stunning collection of almost entirely French furnishings and objets d’art. The French visitors were thrilled to find their own Alençon lace in a special showcase!
Highlights of the visit included meals with friends, old and new, the notion of the “English” Garden Centre, sharing the beauty of our area, and laughter over communication! Next year’s reciprocal visit is already being looked forward to.
